Cinemoz Studios Unveils its 2023 Film & TV Slate

As part of its strategy to launch new Arab stories and talent in the international co-production market, Cinemoz Studios has announced its 2023 line-up of Film & TV projects currently in development with writer rooms spanning across Paris, Beirut, Jeddah, and Los Angeles. Notable projects include:

Zhabibi

Feature Film | Lebanon, Sweden

An third generation Arab-Swedish wedding comedy gets the zombie treatment, in this outrageous genre feature at the crossroads between “Triangle of Sadness” and “Shaun of the Dead”.

Logline: When the beef between the bride and groom’s parents goes sour (literally!), and threatens to disrupt a typical Arab-American wedding, a contaminated raw meat delicacy causes a zombie outbreak that no one sees coming.

Ojalá

Fiction Series | Lebanon, Mexico, USA

The first ever Spanish-Arabic fiction series bridging Mexico and the Middle East; through a female-driven CBD success story.

Logline: After learning that they are the sole inheritors of their grandmother’s cannabis farm in Lebanon’s infamous Bekaa Valley, two Mexican-Lebanese twin sisters venture to start the first organic CBD oil company specialized in the renowned Lebanese strain: Red Leb.

Lemnos

Feature Film | France, KSA

A sci-fi space thriller following the first Saudi scientist caught in a pyschologiccal huit-clos aboard his remote space station. Lemnos is directed by French-British filmmaker Andrew Desmond (Entity, Sonata) and co-written with Arthur Morin (Love Meat Tender, Sonata).

Logline: Adam AlKhawam, a wealthy scientist living a recluse life in space finds himself trapped in a psychological thriller with his own AI creations.

The Magnificent

Fiction Series | UK, Lebanon, France

This international coproduction boasts an ensemble cast driving a Cold War comedy and alternative History limited series, loosely inspired by the infamous Kim Philby and his "Cambridge Five" KGB spy ring, amidst the golden era of Beirut’s swinging 60s.

Logline: An ousted British double agent and disgraced Soviet spy tries to win back the favours of his handlers during his last stint in 1962 raging Beirut.
